You'll always know what I'm doing, and what it's costing you.
Two disciplines, one person. Digital that earns its keep for owner-managed businesses — and regulatory cybersecurity analysis for the people running critical national infrastructure. Prices published either way.
Thirty minutes. No fee, no obligation, and no pitch.

Which one are you?
These are genuinely different jobs for genuinely different buyers, so I've stopped pretending otherwise and split them. Pick the one that describes you.
Owner-managed businesses
Digital that has to pay for itself
For trades, lettings agents, independent retailers, clinics and professional firms — businesses where the website either brings in work or it doesn't, and where nobody has a marketing department to hide behind.

- Search and paid advertising
- Hosting, care and the boring bits that keep it alive
- Automation, once the basics are working

Compliance that survives an audit
For energy generation and networks, water, transport, healthcare and manufacturing with real plant behind it — organisations held to a framework, usually with a regulator and a deadline attached.
- CAF readiness, Basic and Enhanced Profile
- NIS and NIS2 programme analysis
- CIS Controls, IG1 through IG2
- OT/IT security requirements and supplier assurance

The common ground
A power station and a timber yard want the same thing
They want to know what is being done, what it costs, and whether it worked. That is not a small-business concern or an enterprise concern — it is just what anyone paying for professional services is entitled to, and it is remarkable how rarely they get it.
The complaint I hear from a builder in Walsall — sold hard, then handed to someone cheaper, then sent a monthly report full of charts that answers nothing — is word for word the complaint I hear from programme managers about large consultancies. Same failure, different invoice.
So both halves of this practice run identically.
The same five rules, either side
- Prices are published. Both service lines, on the open web, before you have to speak to anyone.
- The person who sold it does it. No account manager, no partner-to-graduate handover.
- Everything traces back to something. A business case, or a regulatory obligation. Nothing gets built because it seemed like a good idea.
- Reporting a human can read. Written by me, in plain English, saying what happened and what it changed.
- You own the output and can leave. The site, the domain, the documentation, the evidence pack. All yours.
For small businesses
Which of these sounds like you?

The process
Three steps, and you can stop after any of them
Identical whether you're buying a website or a CAF gap assessment.
01
A free call
Thirty minutes, no fee, no obligation and no pitch deck. For a small business I'll ask what the business does, what isn't working, and whether you've actually got capacity for more work — because if you haven't, more enquiries won't help you. For a regulated operator I'll ask which framework you're held to, what the deadline is, and where you think the gaps are.
02
A written price
What I'd do, what it costs, how long it takes and what I need from you. One page, plain English, fixed. You're free to take it to someone else and compare — and if it helps you do that, it's done its job.
03
The work, out in the open
A written update saying what I did, what it changed, and what's next. Written by me, in words you'd use. You can ring me any time — that's the number in the corner of this page, and it's my mobile.
Background
Twenty years of working out what things actually cost
Eleven of those years inside Jaguar Land Rover — first putting telematics into the finished-vehicle supply chain, which produced an industry-first patent and a place in the Innovista Awards final, then building the Salesforce ecommerce platform behind JLR's connected car services.
Since then: NIS compliance at Drax Power Station, security architecture across National Grid's interconnector Dispatch systems, CIS Controls across a thousand devices at Pharmacy2U, and an SAP migration at Compass Group. Before that, Royal Mail and the UK Power Networks separation programme.
None of that qualifies anyone to build a plumber a website. What it does explain is the habit underneath both halves of this practice: find out what the current way of doing it costs before anyone builds anything.

Straight answer
When you shouldn't hire me
I'd rather tell you now than take your money and have you find out later.
- If you need a simple one-page site and nothing more, a website builder will do it for a fraction of what I'd charge. Squarespace is genuinely good. Just buy your own domain and keep control of it.
- If you're already flat out and turning work away, don't spend money on getting found. Fix your capacity first. I'll tell you this on the free call and it won't cost you anything.
- If you need a penetration test or a 24/7 SOC, those are specialist services and I'm neither. I'll organise testing and turn the findings into a plan, but somebody else should hold the tools.
- If you need twelve consultants on site by Monday, a large firm can do that and I can't. I'd rather say so before you've spent an hour on a call.
- If you want a document that satisfies a regulator while nothing operational changes, we'll disappoint each other.
- If the cheapest quote is what matters, that won't be me. There'll always be someone cheaper, and sometimes they're the right call.
Start with a conversation that costs you nothing
Half an hour, no fee, no obligation, and no follow-up sequence if you decide it's not for you. Worst case, you'll come away knowing more about your own situation than you did before.
